My business name, “Into the Woods,” comes from the musical/movie of  the same name.

In this story of intertwined fairy-tales, there is one lyric and message that impacted me so deeply, it became the name of my business. It is:

For me, the thing we must all venture into the woods to get is our inner Littles that hide in the forest. These are the Parts of us that hold our deepest grief, hurt, fear and sadness. (See poem below.)

Into the woods

To get the thing

That makes it worth

The journey

We must integrate these Parts of ourselves so that we can fully express all of who we are meant to be.

People who are able to build a relationship with and integrate all Parts of themselves have access to more peace, freedom and fulfillment.

If you had a little child lost in the woods, wouldn’t you want to rescue that child?

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
